Hollis Brashear

    Hollis Brashear, a leader in improving public education in the Dallas Independent School District, founded HNB Consulting Engineers, Inc. in 1993 and is presently engaged in planning and design of rapid transit systems. A native of Dallas, he graduated from Lincoln High School and earned a BS in Civil Engineering at Prairie View A&M University and a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. He later earned an MS degree at Oklahoma State University. During his 21 year military career, he commanded engineer units in South Korea and France, served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after also working as Policy and Planning Officer in Washington D.C. and as Director of Engineering in Fort Riley Kansas. Back in Dallas, Hollis served as Director of Building Services for the city, and joined Williams, Russell and Johnson, where he managed various construction facilities at D/FW International Airport. He was elected to DISD Board of Trustees and served as both President and Vice President. Active in the community, he serves on numerous civil boards and committees and has received, among many, the Man of the Year Award, the Texas Citizen Engineer Award, and the Distinguished Public Award from the University of Texas at Dallas. Hollis is married, has two daughters and three grandsons, all living in the Dallas metroplex.
